The kings of Europe

Ten days have passed since that momentous occasion when Liverpool F.C reclaimed their rightful position among the elites of European soccer  and it still has not sunk in. Yes, we are the champions, winning the Champions League for a fifth time is no mean feat. Being a Liverpool supporter since I was 12, I cannot express my joy in our triumph, in our being crowned the kings of Europe yet again; winning the Champions League for a fifth time means that 'ol big ears' is ours for keeps.

The passion of the Kop is unsurpassed in football, its the fans that make Liverpool what it is. With die hard supporters from Melbourne to Mogadishu the face of the 'Kop' is more international than British. The rendition of 'You will never walk alone' by the Liverpool supporters will send goose-bumps on the backs of the opposing team. Win we did but the manner in which we won is surreal. Being 3-0 down at half time even the most staunch supporters had forsaken 'The reds' but come back we did and with a bang to win on penalties. The A.C Milan team-sheet impresses and intimidates but they lacked the hunger that we had for glory, this was one chance to redeem ourselves for not putting in a good performance in the league and 'The Reds' welcomed this opportunity with open arms.

It was destiny, the coincidences between this final and the last time we won are astonishing. The snatching of victory from the jaws of defeat will make this win forever a part of European soccer folklore. This amazing comeback to overcome all odds and beat the mighty Rossoneri left many pundits proclaiming that God is a Liverpool fan. They are absolutely right for I am, I am.

  • hola, came here from the lfc forums n ya liverpool gonna beat evrybody next season n cisse will be the top scorer in the league.

  • Watching Liverpool lift the trophy was sheer brilliance. I've been watching matches for quite a while now and never have I seen a comeback against AC Milan like that - by anyone.

This game will go down as one of the best ever - and I am still pinching myself that MY team came out on top.

Anyone who is a fan of THE game must have been cheering the comeback ... even AC fans. It truly was incredible.

  • I almost had a heart attack while I was watching the game. In fact, I was about to stop watching because I thought "3-0" was the end.

  • @Cisse fan: Djibril Cisse is the next french pele, no doubt about it.

@redsfan - The icing on the cake would be if we could take the Blue noses spot in the C.L, the last time they qualified, we did the same thing, took away their thunder.

@Irina - I didn't know that my evil twin was a liverpool supporter.

@ Jupe - A chelski fan eh? err I mean Chelsea.. I concede I like Mourinho, he has an air of authority and arrogance about him.. he is sheer class and Roman's dough can buy you any player in the world... Money buys everything, I too believe in that theory.... there is only one thing that money doesn't buy, its PEDIGREE!!!

P.S Jupe, you guys pays a hell lot of money for a waste like drogba... but hell even we have wasted money on rubbish like Diouf.
