Megalomaniacal Meanderings

During the depths of darkness,
in my deepest despondency
I enter the hitherto unchartered territory;

I see before my eyes a world,
a world full of havoc and destruction
and lo and behold
rises a ruler, a lord, an overlord;
a king who is the epitome of bestiality,
clad in royal robes, and with the sceptre in hand;
with an iron fist he rules over the land.

And in the course of time,
the barren lands are evergreen again,
camaraderie and bonhomie is the order of the day
and in the flash of a second;
I open my eyes, my hands reach for the sceptre
and though I am unable to grasp it,
my thoughts fall upon the vision that was,
which foretold what my destiny is to be.

  • Somehow your megalomania brings a smile on my face, maybe cos you have some good intentions deep down- of getting a bestial king to raise a flourshing land of good people :-)Nice poem, I must say. Maybe it reflects the person you are/want to be.At a deeper level I feel that-when life asks you to choose between self & others, there will raise a tempest in your soul that might leave you changed forever.

  • Diane, you have to draw your own conlcusions.. I would be surprised if anyone can accurately dissect the whole poem... are you up for such an intellectual challenge..

    Sangeets, hey thanks for the compliment.

    Wookie, hey doc. I'am impressed by your analysis and understanding of my thoughts... but then again you will have to come across to a dozen psychos a day eh?

  • hey I am not a doc, thou' I love being called one :D. Psychology was one of my subjects in college,that's all. Well, as far as meeting psychos goes-everybody has a good side & a bad side, its upto us to decide which side we want them to show.

  • Hey, perfect people don't need therapists :P:P When I don't have a job, I will def consider the offer and I expect to be paid in par with the industry standards :D

  • .. perfect ppl dont need therapists but it does help too.. so that we don't fall to mortal standards... eww how embarassing that would be...

  • I really like the name of your blog!
    I guess the poem is indeed left open for individual interpretation... The more megalo you're the more you are likely to get it! ; )

  • A poem of self gratitution? personal satisfaction? Poetically selfish, yes, but beautiful nontheless. My hats off to you. Forgive my brash comment. :P
